The Australian & New Zealand Association of Fertility and Surrogacy Professionals is the leading organisation for Australian and New Zealand legal and counselling practitioners working in the field of fertility, surrogacy and donor conception.

The Association is committed to advocating for the best interests of children and people born through assisted reproduction, protecting the rights and autonomy of donors, surrogates, intended parents, and recipients and people accessing assisted reproductive treatment, and fostering positive relationships among all parties, including individuals born through these arrangements and their families.

We are committed to best practice ethical family creation, that protects the rights and best interests of children and the autonomy and rights of the parties, and that promotes healthy long-lasting relationships between the parties and their families.

The Association supports the growth and ethical practice of fertility and family creation professional services. It aims to promote professional excellence in fertility treatment and third-party family creation across Australia and New Zealand.

Sarah Jefford

Sarah Jefford OAM

Director & President

Sarah Jefford is a family creation lawyer specialising in surrogacy and donor conception law. Sarah was awarded the medal of the Order of Australia for services to the surrogacy community.

Sarah-Jayne Duryea

Director & Membership Officer

Sarah-Jayne Duryea is the Founder and Principal Psychologist at Happy Minds Psychology. In her family-building work, Sarah-Jayne supports individuals and couples pursuing parenthood through IVF, surrogacy, donor conception, and adoption.

Simone Cureton

Director & Secretary

Simone is an Australian surrogacy lawyer providing advice and support to intended parents and surrogates across Australia, drawing on both legal expertise and lived experience.

Nicole Russell

Director & Treasurer

Nicole Russell is an experienced lawyer, specialising in surrogacy and fertility law. She is the founder and principal lawyer at Russell Walker Lawyers.

Dr Sarah Nowoweiski

Director

Sarah Nowoweiski is a Clinical and Health Psychologist and ANZICA counsellor who specialises in surrogacy and donor arrangements. She has experience in managing donor and surrogacy programs, and provides comprehensive counselling services for family building.

Rebecca Kerner

Director

Rebecca Kerner is a UK-trained Psychotherapist and Senior Counsellor, with over 26 years international experience specialising in fertility, relationship issues, and supporting all forms of family creation. Rebecca is also the Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors Association (ANZICA).

Sonja Goedeke

Sonja Goedeke is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Auckland University of Technology and a registered clinical psychologist whose research and practice focuses on the psychosocial and ethical aspects of infertility and assisted reproduction, particularly donor conception.

Ben Sayer

With more than two decades of experience, Ben is a co-founder of Sayer Jones and has practised extensively across all areas of surrogacy, fertility, and adoption law. Ben regularly assists parents, surrogates and donors alike through the provision of ethical, guided and holistic advice.

Amanda Monteith

Advisory Panel

Amanda Monteith is a Registered Psychologist and accredited Couples Counsellor who has worked in private practice for over 35 years. She has extensive experience as a fertility counsellor, as well as in providing education and training in family creation. Within her private practice she provides fertility, donor and surrogacy counselling.
